Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood is a parody of hood movies. The Wayan Brothers use their Scary Movie series tactic to compose this work of art. Boyz N The Hood, Menace To Society, South Central are all used as examples in the creation. Though hilariously funny, the movie relays very important messages in the midst of the madness. The best thing about it, the more powerful messages are given in plain sight, and even tells you "MESSAGE!"
For instance, Ashtray, Shawn Wayans, stated: "It hurt me to wake up and see my beautiful black people suffer, victimized by the oppressive, harsh realities of the hood. I guess, even though we were free, we were still slaves… in the mind."
Through visuals, we are able to get a better grasp of the message is attempted to be delivered. Though we may not be aware of it consciously, our subconscious is capable of acquiring information and make meaning to it though we may not be able to process it correctly at the time. As you can see, the delivery man pops up each time a significant message is told. Hilarious in the way he just pops up out of nowhere, the comedic way of expressing truth is pure genius. They also define prominent messages through the use of scenery. When Loc Dog and Ashtray go to the corner store, which resembles 7-11, definitely stands out. "40s and 9s" is the name of it, with the sign showing a gun, plus sign, 40 bottle, the equal sign, and a dead body at the end.

The movie is full of this such scenerey. While we were younger, everything was different, for we knew it was a comedy, so we watched in search of the funny things. Now, we are aware that nearly all comedy involves a great essence of truth. This is a movie, which is a form of art. If you are an artist, you know that with each piece completed and released, you are intending to relay some sort of message. Art is the projection of perspectives in a poetic structure passed on to the public to grasp.
